Morrison's B30 Biodiesel

Featured Replies

Was away from my local area and was obliged to refuel my TDi at Morrison's for the first time.Used the standard diesel , but has "approval" yet been given by the VW Audi group for the B30 biodiesel (which I noted on the next nozzle)?

Current advice on audi.co.uk is...

Volkswagen Group does not approve the use of B30 biodiesel in any of its vehicles. B30 biodiesel is a blend of 70 per cent fossil fuel and 30 per cent biofuel, derived from fatty acid methyl esters (FAME). The use of this fuel in Volkswagen Group vehicles may invalidate the engine and exhaust system warranty.

FYI I have tried this in my Octavia PD 140. No change in drivability at all though I'd only run £20 on top of about a tenners worth of regular derv already in the tank.

Drove 300 ish miles and all was well. Considering the price is the same I am unable to see the benefit, bar to the environment of course.

No point whatsoever and to be honest, its one thing running an older vehicle on it but another running a modern TD..........

Its a risk and not one worth taking as there are no cost savings.

I thought the latest SUK advice was it is fine on the pre-PD engines, DO NOT use it on the earlier PD engines and whilst you can use it on later engines DON'T.

Biodiesel simply isn't worth the risk unless you have an "old tech" engine and even then its a risk so it does beg the question; why bother taking any risk?!

Older pre-PD engines is fine but a big no no on PD,s.
