Superb Engine failure(V6)

Featured Replies

My V6 is currently sitting at the dealer for a computer indicated engine failure...

The problem started last week when there was 1 light burned, then today the other light burned, and I had the anoying warning message. Then BANG the "preheat" light turns on(the yellow circles) and the onboard computer says something like "engine failure, take to the service centre"(mine is in spanish). Took it to the service center and they told me they will call me thomorrow. Didnt give me any courtesy car or anything. The car is from my father (my car is a nissan x-trail  ).

What may the cause of this problem? Since the car only has 11,000km and almost 1 year. It's a 2.5 V6 elegance 155HP.

This is the third time that we have some kind of electrical prlbem(first it was the trip computer that didnt show the radio station, etc) second the ABS/ESP light on.,.fixed all under warranty. But, it has been a pretty damn GOOD CAR! LOVE IT!...I wish I had one of those....

Hi,

Sorry to hear of your problem, can't help I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will soon.

Jane

PS Welcome

Didnt fail completely. But there was a HUGE power loss, a lot of black smoke and some knocking noises from the turbo.

The trip computer had this message "Averia del motor! llevar al taller!".

:( :( :( .

not being a mechanic i would say my turbo went pop if it was my car, hopefully it will be sorted out on warrenty whatever it is

They already called me. There was a hose that popep off because of overboost caused by a malfunctionin sensor??( x 10). They also replaced the two braking lights, and a brake sensor.

The car is going to be in my h ands at 12M(I hope so).

Probably the top intercooler pipe on the n/s that was quite common.

As are the brake light swtiches, not all bad then.

hello there,

I know this may be a very old post, but im' having an more strange problem now.

on January my v6 tdi had an engine failure, basically the dealer told me that piston 1 was broken and 1 of the valves was bent.

after rebuilding the engine.

the engine doesnt has power, and randomly it turns the esp light on and starts blowing heaps of smoke with no power when that happends. they already reset the engine timing according to the skoda ones, but they gave up on finding the fault.

what do you guys think i ahouls be lookin for? the engine sounds perfect, but for example if I put the vehicle on neutral (its an auto) and I depress the accelerator pedal it wont go above 3500rpm.

when the esp light turns on you can see grey smoke going by the side of the vehicle. I will be posting a scan of a complege vagcom report.

any help would be really appreciated, sorry for my english but im a dominican spanish speaking guy lookin for some help.

thanks.

forgot to say that its a 2003 elegance bought new always serviced at the skoda dealer.

55,000 kms (like 30,000 miles)

The V6 is a difficult engine to deal with. In view of the problems you've had with it, I would firstly check all the engine compressions and the basic cam and fuel pump timing. When these are all correct I would make a diagnostic check and look very carefully indeed at the VP44 pump.

Whoever decided that putting electronics inside a fuel pump mounted on an engine was a good idea, was an idiot.

rotodiesel.

This is normal. The ECU won't let you rev any higher in neutral - it's bad to rev an unloaded engine.

I tested anotheer superb v6 tdi and it goes all the way to 4500 rpm in neutral.

anyway, if i use the triptronic thingie it wont rev above 3000 rpm, and the shifting of the transmision is quite funny.
