Maxidot and VAG-COM enabled options - what I found out today

Featured Replies

Evening All,

Cheezemonkai kindly sorted me out some VAG-COM moddage today and enabled some options (anti-hijack, CH/LH lights, dual fogs) and thought i'd report what happens when you enable them in a maxidot car.

Now I am stating now that it may not be the same on all cars but hoepfully it is!

Under my maxidot menus I now have the CH/LH light options with a timer and on off. When I did some searching before it wasn't entirely clear if those options were there or not. They are :D

Cheers Mark!

Some early cars there are options that are hidden until activated.

Even on current cars usefull items like this appear to be missing by default.

Coming Home & Leaving Home lights should be a part of the Light Assistant package anyway so that doesn't really bother me that much.

Dual Fogs? I'd have thought that both fog lights would be enabled by default; A single fog light is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!

But what's anti-hijack?

Doors autolock above 10mph, and wont unlock until the cars is turned off.

But what's anti-hijack?
The doors lock automatically once you reach something like 6kpm, and then unlock when the ignition key is moved, or after a double pull of the internal handle, or should you have the misfortune to crash and the airbags are deployed...

Edit: So I'm a slow at typing - but gave more info :)

Dual rear fogs ;)

I don't have LA but do have auto wipers so they will come on light dependant :)

I've enabled anti hijack through my maxidot but the ch/lh option doesn't seem to be there. Perhaps I need some vag-com jiggery pokery...?

CH/LH is only available as standard in Maxidot if you have auto lights, however, as the OP has pointed out they can be enabled with VAGCOM, how useful they are I don't know as my vRS had Xenons I decided it would probably be better to not have the lights turning on and off everytime I unlocked or locked the doors.

You'd have thought, but for some reason Skoda in their wisdom only enable the drivers side fog out of the factory.

You can also enable automatic hazard lights flashing in the event of emergency braking.

I think the idea of just a single fog light is that it doesn't drown out brake lights.

Anti-Hijack was already enabled on my car when I collected it. I haven't got the CH/LH function but don't know wheter it can be enabled via Maxi-Dot.

Since owning VW group cars there has only been one rear fog light on the drivers side there was no bulb and/or socket in the nearside rear lamp cluster. However the two Ford Escorts I had pre 1995 had two rear foglamps so I presume that for some reason it's VW policy to only have one. I can't remember which models I've seen on the road lately have one or two as it's not been foggy enough for them to be used.

Which would be a valid argument if every car on sale in the UK didn't have a 3rd high level brake light to help distinguish between brake and fog lights.

On my Octy II vRS not only was the holder there but so was the bulb, I think they are all built the same now and just have the fog light settings adjusted by computer at the factory.

So am I right in thinking from this that even if I don't have Light Assistant but do have Maxidot and Auto wipers I could enable the CH/LH function on Vag-Com and have it appear in Maxidot?

If so I''l have some of that please for those dark winter nights.

Sort of.... my LH lights work well and come on light dependant and work well. CH lights are a bit of an issue. They only work at the moment when I have the maxidot setting to 80 seconds  need to have a bit of a play this weekend really. I'm going to see if I can get hold of a cheap LA switch to do the full conversion

Anti Hijack is enabled but I cannot select it in maxidot
