I am new to this site, and this is my first post. I am wondering if anyone can help me on this subject??

I have a 2004 -54 reg fabia vrs i have noticed that the power stearing has started to whine at slow speeds. To be honest it is started to sound like a mini with a electric power stearing.

I have never noticed this noise before i think the power stearing pump is seen better days but to be honest i have looked thourgh the web and i really carn't find anyone else with the same problem..

Any feedback would be Great

have you checked the level ?

are there any obvious fluid leaks ?

do the dash lights flicker when the steering is operated ?

as you say the power steering pump is not a common failure

Mine whines and the headlights dip when hitting full lock, not sure if this is normal?

Think it does it dips/flickers on most, but if it's really bad/ excessive dipping it's a sign the battery is potentailly going.

Thanks for the advice i have been having a look and it seems to b a alternator belt tensioner that is faulty, but then i am still not 100 % convinced thats it but i am gonna get the tensioner and a belt and try that first
