Rough running VRS TFSI

Featured Replies

Hello

I wonder if anyone has any ideas where I should start looking for a solution;

My Petrol Vrs has just started running a little roughly. Missing I suppose you would say. It's just had a service and doesn't seem to have lost power. It just seems to miss when running at less power and it seems more prevelant when cold.

Thanks

Snap!

Your intake valves probably look like this.

Take it back? Might be related to the service. Might not have attached spark lead correctly, or forgotton to replace air filter, all sorts of things.

Many thanks. I'm bit of a maintenance numptee. Is this something I can access and clean myself or does it involve money and dealers!

Bit of reading for you

Fourtitude Forums: Cleaning intake valves deposits

It sounds a DIY job, and something I need to do myself but it's not bad enough yet. There is lots of info, do a search on google about it, it's very common.

Thanks very much

God Daymmmmn!

Im a little confused as to how having direct injection would affect this, as i would have thought that only a thin film would be sat on the valves from the breather system?

I wouldn't like to think what the 1.9PD's look like!

Although the 1.9PD you cant see the tops of the valves, so how would you clean that?

If you have VCDS you can logs the ignition for each cylinder and see the misfires, mine is on cylinder 3 and disapears when it's up to working temp. If you get it done let us know if it works :D

VCDS ? Is that the engine management system. So I'd need to take it to a dealer?

VCDS is Vag-Com diagnostics matey.

Thanks. Just googled and quite a price! Looks like I will be visiting the dealership soon then.

Thanks

If your around the Mansfield area, i would recommend a trip to Ben from Shark Performance.

He's worked his magic on my car and the gf's car, and would go back to him any day.

I was going to suggest a dud coil pack (common problem on VAG petrol engines, unfortunately).

Aye I thought mine was dud, I bought a new one and swapped plugs round but it was no different. There is a possibility it could be a blocked injector but I would try the carbon clean first.
