Featured Replies

We have just ordered a Yeti 1.2 TSi SE Spec (FWD) in Brilliant Silver. Build week 49, so we should hopefully get it towards end of December or beginning of January, can't wait.

£2,500 scrappage allowance + good trade-in price for our 06 plate Fabia vRS.

Regards

Iam

Excellent, any other options besides the metallic? Would like to try the 1.2TSI, sounds like a cracking engine.

Hoping my SE TDI 140 will be going down the production line soon, given WK45 or earlier.

Congrats,

did you get to test drive first ? especially highway driving comments...

I don't think any cars with the 1,2 TSI engine has been delivered yet, so I doubt if "tik" has had a test drive :-)

If ANTS build week chart is correct the first production 1.2TSI's should have gone down the production line this week (WK41).

That concurs with a story on auto.cz which says exactly that has happened.

At this rate there will soon be no Estelles left on the road.

I bet you could have got a better discount and the yeti a lot cheaper selling the estelle privately and not using the scrappage at all. The scrappage scheme is a giant carrot, and thats all, Skoda raised there prices by 2K to counter act the scrappage scheme and maintain profits. I bet when the scrappage scheme ends prices will drop again, or you will be able to negotiate even bigger discounts.

Is the 1.2 Engine going to be man enough to power a car which is after all based on the Octavia.

It has the same power and more torque than a conventional 1.6 (and the torque comes lower down too) so I would say it should be capable.

In the not too distant future I think turbos will become common place and people will stop thinking just about capacity when it comes to engine performance!

There is no vat off deals on yeti so taking the £2500 scrapage deal was a good move as for putting the cars up by £2k .......Try 3% everythings gone up due to the £ being so poor, Great car Choice I'm sure You'll be happy!!

Cheers Jason.

I think you will be paying more visits to the petrol stations than you can shake a stick at due to the heavy body of the car and the small engine, why not get the diesel version and save some money

The 1.2tsi (2wd only) weighs a relatively modest 1345 kg. It'll be no ball of fire, but the engine is reported to be a lot more flexible than the next lightest option, the 2 litre TDI 110ps (2wd 1420 kg). and you could buy a lot of petrol with the £1300 price difference.

The 1.2's economy is roughly comparable with the much heavier and more expensive4wd diesels.

I guess it's horses for courses

We also went for the 1.2 TSi, though in S trim - only extras other than metallic being mats and a proper spare.

I do under 10k miles a year and most of that is on country lanes so the performance looks like it should be right for us. Also, my current car has under 70hp so I'm well used to 'modest' power.

What strikes me most when I'm a passenger in bigger engined cars is that their drivers make much less use of the gearbox than I do and that additional passengers affect the performance of the car much less. I really notice when I have four adults in the car - the weight of the passengers being a significant factor. An average adult (supposedly) is 10 st or 75 kg (this also came up in another thread) - but the Yeti's light weight engine + no 4wd + generally only 1 or 2 adults on board + a slick gearbox all suggests to me that the 1.2 should be fine.

Sounds perfect, don't think you should worry to much, think the 1.2TSI will go pritty well even with 4 up.

Which colour by the way?

Now have a couple of 1.2 Snow-monster (nearly) owners.

Amazonian green.

After picking up a brochure from dealer at weekend. I've sorted the spec which is based on SE plus about £200 of options. Now need either the 1.8TSi or 140TDi engine with DSG.

Remind me, does SE have have electric rear windows? I do not see these under options nor std on Elegance spec?

Think SE in showroom had rear elect windows, but they where not listed on the floor stand beside it.

Are the fog light and main beam in the inner circular light assy for non xenon headlight?

All but the base E spec have electric windows all round.

Regard lights the ounter main unit is a combined dipped / main beam unit plus side light. The Inner round unit is a fog light, although on the Elegance it also operates as a cornering fog light and has a daytime running light in the upper 1/4.

The latter two functions are available as options on the SE.

Extra note:

Dipped/ main beam unit fitted with H4 bulb

Fog light H7 bulb

Thanks for clarifying this. Looks like another option to add to the list, Daytime/Fog Lights.

Daytime running lights are part of light assist option at £50

Cornering Fogs £120

Spec'd both of these options on my SE, plus a few other bit's I consider useful for rural living.

I'm confident it will be fine: the critical factor is that the 1.2tsi delivers plenty of torque (129 lbs) in the low to middle rev range, and the torque band is quite wide. In actual usage, ie through the gears rather than the unrealistic 0-60 sprint measure, I'm sure the 1.2 will actually be quite quick.

Yes, I was confident it would do the job - confident enough to put down a deposit in any case!

On the 0-60, from memory the top end diesel was under 10 while the 1.2 was over 11 - an extra 2 or 3 seconds (unrealistic though the measure may be) really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

We are looking at build week 47 apparently.

Auto Express have the Polo 1.2TSi on test in this week's issue. They state that the engine goes to the top of the class praising its economy, refinement and performance.

Now a Bluefin'd software upgraded 1.2TSi would be fun.

The 1.2's 0-60 time is perfectly respectable in its own right. The 1.2 in S spec is excellent value for money too. Best of luck with delivery: you'll probably get it for New Year which would be a good start to 2010!

Am I missing something, how do you get scrappage allowance of £2500 on a 06 Fabia and a good trade in price.

If I could get that i'd be down to the dealers tomorrow.

I'm not getting both on the same car. We are getting a good trade-in price for our Fabia at 26,000 miles and are scapping another car that my wife and I own.
