Need help, fault Fabia

Featured Replies

My sister has a fabia 2002 1.4 (100hp) and the engine mangment light has come on twice now, cleared it once and same fault has come back on. From fault reader.

1678(not sure if there was another number took photo of my reader and flash covered it :()

EGR System,

Excessive Flow:

P0402

Any idea's what this is and flow to fix it?

Is it the sensor in the exhaust and most likley needs replacing?

Pretty common problem.

Check the gaskets at both ends of the EGR pipe. Maybe take off the EGR valve and clean it out with carb cleaner. Clean out throttle body.

Put everything back together. Disconnect battery and then reconnect. Check EGR valve function in 'output tests' (should click).

Adapt throttle body in 060 and EGR valve in 074 (Ign ON engine OFF).

Drive car and with an assistant run EGR test in 075 (wide open throttle then coast down). You should get 'Test Running' and then 'System OK'. Also a differential pressure reading will appear in the previously blank 3rd window on the VCDS display.

If you still have problems then consider replacing the EGR valve and/or going to a dealer for a software update of the ECU.
