I have a Skoda Octavia 1.6 (T reg). It make a continuous soft beeping noise when the engine is off. The beep disappears when the engine is on, or when I press the odometer adjuster knob. No warning lights come on to suggest engine oil or battery problems. The noise is loud enough to be very irritating but not so loud as to be heard outside the car.

Thanks for both these suggestions but I wish it were that easy. Those alarms go off when the door is shut and are louder than this one. This alarm is on whenever the engine is off, whether you are in the car or not - so it has been on all night! and its quite soft so its hard to hear from outside the car (thank goodness).

Something up with the alarm? (If it has one...)

Does locking the doors make any difference?
