High level Brake level

Featured Replies

A couple of the bulbs have popped on mine.

Whole new unit ????

Or can I replace individual ones ????

I would take it out and have a look but can't arsed at the moment lol

you can get bulbs for the hatch

Early models had 16 seperate (wedge type) 2.3 watt bulbs that can be replaced.

But I think later models changed to LED's which means a whole new unit.

Thanks fella's

Anyone know if it's a MOT fail ????

Technically yes I think Test Manual Page but individual testers may well take the view that if at least some of the luminaires in a high level unit operate the requirements are satisfied.

Thanks Ken :)

High level stop lamps

These are lamps usually fitted in the rear window or boot spoiler of a vehicle and may consist of a number of light sources .

At least 50% of the light sources must illuminate

Its about 2 of them so it can wait for now :):)

could you disconnect it? surely if you have the normal brake lights working that would be fine?

You could I guess, but I wouldn't (plus I think it may fail the MOT, since high level brake lights are compulsory on all modern cars). I'd want more brake lights! So that the yuppie driving his Range Rover Sport 3inches from my bumper at 80mph while on the phone on the motorway doesn't turn my octavia into a fabia when the traffic suddenly stops!

I've actually had to dive out of the way of a new discovery, that was coming up from behind me on the M1! Traffic suddenly stopped dead, checked rear view mirror as applying brakes only to find a Disco wobbling and swerving towards me, and not deccelerating as fast as me! I took the decison to dive to lane 1 from lane 2, as I did it the Disco shot past and came to rest between lanes 2 and 3!! Shady! I hate berks in enormo 4x4's who don't know how to drive according to their vehicle. It won't handle like your old beemer darling!

Oh yeah, back on topic!

Let us know how much one of those units costs when you get one mate.... merci.

I wear a head torch when working on the car in the dark, so I look like an enormous night-nerd!

The best 'what a weirdo' looks come when I wash the car in the rain. Might have something to do with me wearing a tiny pink crop top and matching hot pants, and using my hairy a*se as an organic wash mitt though.:moon:

I'll leave you to mull over that mental image.......

oH man!

thats vial!

There is nothin wrong wi washin car in rain lol, if its heavy enough you dont need to rinse lol.

that mental image is shockin, a warnin needs to go on that!
