Reset an engine warning light?

Featured Replies

I had an idiot drive reverse into my rear bumper a year or so ago. Got the bumper fixed on insurance. However when i got the car back it had an engine warning light on (something i've been very familiar with on my car).

The insurance company sent round a guy with a mobile diagnostic kit. the warning was something silly like a loose wire in rear brake light. He reset it and it went away permanently.

Ok my issue is now, i have had another ding and my bumper is slightly out on one side. I want to have a fiddle to try and improve the panel fit but i'm scared of triggering another warning light and having to pay the garage £30 to reset it.

Any ideas or am i worrying over nothing.

You will be fine. If you need fault codes cleared, just buy a cheap Gendan fault code reader for £30, they clear warning lights as well.

Hello superherojones,

If your fiddling with bumper, can't think what electrics will be effected ??

Maybe you have reversing sensors ??, with igniton off I dont think disconnecting where they plug into loom will trigger an alert message??

Try doing the job with ignition and light switch or any electrics 'OFF'.

A good look around area, before commencing job, maybe slacken bolts/nuts will be enough to do job intended ??

Good luck.
