How Much...VRS haggle time

Featured Replies

I'm just about to take the plunge & order a VRS TDI (Manual).

I really wanted the 'Special Edition' but have been told that they've all been sold. :(

Anyway to get something similar I've decide to order the car in the same colour & a fair list of extra's:-

Curtain Airbags

Heated Seats (wife!:o)

Spare Wheel

Maxi Dot Comp.

Leather VRS Seats

Auto Dim RV Mirror

Xenon Headlights

Carpet Mats (Anthracite)

Boot Netting system (I really only want the net under the parcel shelf...or does that come as standard?)

Total price under the Vat off scheme £19,146ish

Now, how much can I expect to get off with a bit of haggling? Is there much room after the VAT deal?

Oh, I'm a cash buyer with nothing to trade in.

Thanks!:)

Get onto Drive the Deal and compare, that's your target. I could not budge any dealers off list, so I went with DtD.

Try either going with Drive the Deal or ask your dealer to match the Drive the Deal price.

DTD price for your car/spec is £18,150.

I can imagine the dealer saying as you are getting vat and assuming 0% that there is nothing left in the deal. afterall i guess they wont make a profit as you are not trading anything in.

Forgetting the mats and netting, the DTD price for your spec is £18148 which is just under 5% off the VAT free price

I eventually got my dealer, Progress Skoda of Bedford, to get within £250 of the DTD price which in my case was a discount of 5.3%

Progress also have a dealership in Letchworth

I was compering used car prices yesterday & done a national search for Octavia Vrs 2.0 Tdi There was 3 pre registerd Limited edition ones with dealers @ great prices may be worg a look Regards Jason.

Thanks for the great feedback...Progress in Letchworth & Palmers Watford are the 2 dealers on my hitlist!

I'll see if I can find those Pre Reg Special Editions Jason, thanks for the tip!

I can definitley recommend Progress in Letchworth... always been very professional in my dealings with them.

Cheers,

Balham

I got my dealer to within £350 of the DTD price which i was happy with as there on my doorstep.Didnt fancy travelling down from Tayside to Londonish area to pick the car up:cool:

I'm thinking of a VRS, but have decided to wait until the present offers finish and then go round a few dealers in December and haggle. My theory is that at the moment it's easy for dealers to say I can't budge on the price because we are already offering 15% off.

Also I would imagine that showrooms will be quieter because most people are thinking of Christmas and not buying cars, but dealers still have targets to meet and may be more prepared to deal. It's interesting that on one of the other threads some delivery dates are being brought forward, which suggests supply is improving and dealers may be under pressure to move stock.

On the other hand my theory may be rubbish.!

Couldn't get my local dealer to budget from the 15% as yet, but offered me £9.5k for my 2006 56plate VRS Tdi which didn't seem to bad for a dealer giving me an £8k change to a standard VRS Tdi in Blue.

Good thing about this is that I then qualify for the 0% finance (2yrs) saving several hundred in interest which always helps.

Off tomorrow to try a couple more dealers.

Been through the same process as you recently.

After Octavia VRS TSI DSG estate with similar spec.

Got a quote from DtD then rang a dealer I got through here (Rainsworth in Mansfield) Spoke to the sales manager Jeremy and within 30 minutes he matched DtD and also guarenteed the price so no extra VAT in January.

Local dealers (Leeds) wouldn't budge on the price of £20,340 after Skoda discount of 15%. DtD price was £19,100.

Going in to sign the order on saturday.

If you don't mind a bit of travelling, give Jeremy a ring, he's back in on monday and by the sound of things getting plenty of business through this forum!!!!!

Marlborough Skoda down your neck of the woods also matched DtD

Good luck

The 15% VAT off offer ends on 31st October. Bear in mind it is Skoda financing most of this discount not the dealer.

Some dealers will give up to a further £1000 off the VAT free price but you will have to shop around

IMO any further offers after 1st Nov will not be as good especially as the pound/euro exchange means SUK are having to pay more for cars from Czechland

With the current offer I doubt you will find any VRS's in stock in December or now

It takes 10 to 12 weeks from order date to getting the car so if you ordered in Dec it would be Feb or March before you drive it away

Thanks for all the great feedback:thumbup:

I did find one remaining Special Edition (a pre reg, delivery miles at CarQuake Skoda Midlands £16495 if anyone is interested!). Although I love the seats & those mega Alloys I've decided to go for a facelift one mainly for the Xenons (I tend to do my long drives when it's dark).

Progress in Letchworth got very close to the DTD price & are trying to get a VRS in for my wife to see when we pop in to drop off the deposit this afternoon. I didn't request this, they just phoned me back saying they would try to do it...I've never met a dealer with such a great attitude!

I was also informed that they can service our Golf at a reduced rate as we get a discount card with the Skoda...nice!:)

Hi,

I would strongly recommend you speak to Jeremy Taylor at RAINWORTH skoda (Mansfield) 01623 623400. He will match DTD as i found out & placed my order with him

as did pg220 & Tobeloy from this forum. If Jeremy is unavailable ask for Jon Atherton

who is the proprietor/dealer principle.

Regards.
