Whats it worth

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What would you pay for an immaculate, 2005 05, Fabia vrs with 60k on the clock with a full main dealer Skoda history? Its also got a few extras such as Cruise.

It seems higher than private valuations, but as i said has the history, and warranty - so in theory is worth the extra.

Thanks

Matt

Is this a car you are looking at buying - for clarity ;)

Yep thats correct, just wanna see what you think its worth :)

Thanks again

I reckon £5800 - £6300, depending on condition, how good the warranty is etc :)

Ah ok, its slightly more than that but has had a recent service :).. is it worth more for a good one?

Thanks

Matt

Bearing in mind that's over 50% of the price when new, on a car that's 4.5 years old, I'd say to look elsewhere. Having cruise won't really influence the price - you can have it retrofitted for next-to-nothing...

VRS pricing as many members have seen, can really vary. I've seen posts on here where members have pointed out VRS models at sale for much more than I'd expect (even at small dealers) though recently have seen an absolute bargain.. taking into account age/mileage/condition/history. I agree with Tom_VRS, personally wouldn't want to pay much more than 6K but It wouldn't surprise me to be advertised for up to 7.5K

Assuming it has has its 60K service and has had both a new timing belt kit and new water pump then you will have saved at least £300 for that work alone, + the cost of the service and any filter changes, totaling around £450

I'd pay around 6k for that, give or take.

Steve

I paid £7000 last month for:

Black Fabia Vrs

Skoda Main Dealer

55 reg

49,000 miles

Full Service

12 Months MOT

12 Months Tax

4 new tyres

New Cambelt and waterpump

Cruise Control

Heated Seats

12 months parts and labour warranty

12 months road assistance

Hope this helps:thumbup:

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. Yes they do seem to vary!

I have fallen in love with in it and its immaculate, but slightly above price value.

Its advertised at 6.5k no offers, but has a receipt for cambelt etc, service and a new turbo all carried out at Skoda main dealer.

Not sure what to do, whether i'm paying too much!

buy it, sounds like a good enough car for the price. these little hatchbacks are like rocking horse stuff at the current time. if its a good example and you want it go get it!

Thanks.

In terms of depreciation what are they like? If i was to sell (which i'm not) in a years time what could I expect private in good condition?

Thanks

well i purchased mine a year ago in january and its an 06 had 67k full dealer history xenons and cruise 6 disc changer close to mint condition from dealership for 5500 and at current times id sell it for 6k no prob. been offerd 6.5 by a friend but cant part with it! they hold there value seriously well! and i think shall continue as the mk2 fabia vrs is only going to be a petrol.

Ah, that was cheap.

Makes me wonder if the one i am looking at is too overpriced! Jealous :)

Simple rule is not to pay more than you have to :)

If the seller isn't accepting offers, put in an offer anyway - and they can then consider that if they don't get any interest at their asking price. Condition is obviously important, so you can quote book prices all day long, but some identically aged/miled cars will have been looked after far better than others. So that needs consideration too.

Not knowing the exact car makes it difficult to give anything other than a statistical answer, but I'd still be looking to pay 6k and not much more.

Thanks for the feedback Wardy.

The price isn't negotiable any further, but does have a very recent cam belt and will MOT and do a service on the car for the price, also comes with a RAC platinum warranty.

What do you think guys?

Cheers,

Matt

A price is always negotiable - it's just the seller isn't... at the moment :)

Seriously, depends how much you want this one. There's always other examples about, but sometimes you need to act on your gut instinct, after all the sensible stuff has been checked over of course!

Steve

Just buy it.. stop f****ing around for a few hundred quid.

Now come on, don't be shy - tell us what you REALLY think!

:)

It does annoy me when people namby pamby around sitting on the fence, not really expressing their whole opinion

I paid £5850 privately back in June for an '05-plate 39k, FSH vRS in silver .. if that helps.

It had just been serviced, but needed cambelt doing, a new foglamp (still not got round to doing that!), and the wheels were pretty scabby, but otherwise pristine and well-kept.

Just buy it! :)

Doesnt help but back in Jan i paid 6.5k for a 04 plate VRS but it ws immaculate with full history but only 18.5k on the clock!!!

Have you bought it yet? ;)

Hey guys,

No I have not yet bought the car, still think its a touch overpriced. I might be indecisive but times are tough.

Going to have another look tomorrow.

I'm worried paying 6.5k will mean if i sold next year i'd get about 5k loosing around 1.5k after driving it off forecourt. Shame its not a private sale!

Matt

Ahhh, it's not even a private sale?! Bloody hell man, get down there and negotiate!

If you're not prepared to pay 6.5k, tell them what you are prepared to pay and leave it with them. Remind them you're in a position to buy immediately, then turn round and walk out. See if the phone rings later in the day :)
