Whats it worth

Featured Replies

As above. Make sure the dealer knows your interested in the car by looking at it everyday, wear him down with your offer, assuming you have cash in yer pocket.

If they are not budging on the price then see if a couple off extras can be thrown in the deal ie. full tank fuel, road tax, new tyres.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Afraid there is no movement on the price, have tried and the guy has just said take it or leave in in a nutshell.

Have been looking at Golf GT's also, but their in their own price league (2002, for 6.5k).

Guess just gotta keep looking, never have any luck with cars ! :o

Their out there just look further afield..

Sometimes its worth buying the right one for slightly more than a cheaper one thats gonna cost ya.

I wont tell ya how much i paid for my 04 3weeks ago!!!

I paid £5399 for a 06 red vRS with full skoda service history, 51k on clock, side airbag option and 6CD changer.

If its just done 60k Id make sure that its had its 60k service as its a big one. I personally wouldnt pay £7k for that car. When I was looking for my vRS there were approved skoda vRSs (below 60k) going for around that and were either 06-07 registered.

Thanks guys,

Where is the best place to look for vrs's can't seem to find these bargains! Sounds live you've got some good deals there though!

Matt

Have you tried a national search on the Autotrader website? You can specify 'vrs' on your search. At the very least you will get a feel for prices , and whether the one you are looking at is high or about right.

This will be of no help at all but recently I have seen some stupidly high price fabia vrs. At a local skoda dealer I drove past the other day a red 05 for over £8000, no idea on miles though but seems a lot as much as I love the car!

Good luck with your search,

Kirk

Given your update on the trader's attitude to the sale (is this an independent selling by the way; if so, have you got a web link to the car?) I would look elsewhere. As others have said, set a national AutoTrader search going. It's worth travelling for the right car and right price

Hi guys,

What would you pay for an immaculate, 2005 05, Fabia vrs with 60k on the clock with a full main dealer Skoda history? Its also got a few extras such as Cruise.

It seems higher than private valuations, but as i said has the history, and warranty - so in theory is worth the extra.

Thanks

Matt

Fabia VRS I have seen fall between £5000--£6500 (including the Limited Edition) from years 2004 to 2007.

Dealers will want top dollar, but remember they are having a tough time moving cars this time of the year, so it's a buyers market, so squeeze as much as you can out of them.

Recently seen Fabia VRS 2004 go for £4500, no doubt the buyer pushed a hard bargain, it has been reduced over a period of 4 months, as I pass the garage regularly.

Good luck, let us all know how you get on.

If by Limited Edition you mean the SE it didn't come out until 2007 and there is absolutely no way you will get one for £6500 even as a private sale. The cheapest one on AutoTrader at the moment is £8950 from a private seller!:rotz:

Ahhh, it's not even a private sale?! Bloody hell man, get down there and negotiate!

If you're not prepared to pay 6.5k, tell them what you are prepared to pay and leave it with them. Remind them you're in a position to buy immediately, then turn round and walk out. See if the phone rings later in the day :)

In my very limited experience, I've found that main dealerships don't want to budge on price. Before I got my one, I looked at a 2005 Elegance (1.9TDI, 39k miles, £6.5k, no service book). They didn't care that it would be an instant cash sale, and wouldn't budge on price. The most they would do was fix the broken door mirror, window seal, and gear stick. Needless to say, I walked away, as it was way too much money (tbh, I just wanted to test drive one at that point), in too poor a condition (pretty scratched paint, one area missing any paint), and had a loud rear wheel bearing too ...

Indeed; they don't want to budge on the price on the screen; that doesn't mean they won't though :)

There is a knack to it I appreciate - all about your approach, attitude and knowledge - as well as bit of tactics. Quite good fun actually

Steve

Heh ... they said that was the price take it or leave it - wouldn't budge at all, and even acted as though in fixing the issues with it they were doing me a favour...

Tells you all you need to know that as well - their reaction to you as a customer trying to do a deal is as important as the deal itself really. If they're not prepared to at least consider your offer, or can't be bothered perhaps, what else aren't they going to do for you? Fixing faults for you, servicing, order parts - the list goes on... So a great time to go elsewhere

Steve

Hehe ... yeah ... found a nicer one, but in the "Comfort" trim, a lot cheaper and closer to home in the end :)
