i am thinking of buying a skoda octavia 2.0 tdi laurin&klement dsg i was wondering if any one has one and what the fuel consumption was like,in the book it says 35.8 urban how accurate is this.thanks:)

Hi Riky

I would say welcome to Briskoda...but you've been a member longer than me

So how about congratulations on your first post instead :D

Anyway, to answer your question, when I had a 2.0 TDi A bit back, I would regularly achieve mid 40's fuel consumption, but that included a small amount of motorway driving, not just urban.

I would expect to see at least the figure you quoted, and maybe even a touch more, doing just urban, and I'm sure other diesel drivers will be along shortly to add their input.

Best of luck with the car search

Cheers

Damian

We have two 2.0TDi cars both with DSG, one has done 70k miles and the other 45k miles in our hands and they both average 47-48mpg overall. That's a mix of town and motorway use but if around town all the time you will still be unlucky to get much less than 40mpg...

All this is as displayed on the on board computer which may be 10% out but brimming the tank and comparing the mileage covered since last fill it's not far out :)

I have a 2.0 FSI DSG Octy2, do you do enough mileage to need the diesel, the petrols are so much cheaper used (usually thousands of ££s less), you might find that the higher purchase price is not worth the extra spend. I was looking at two identical trim and mileage cars, one had a diesel engine and one a petrol. The petrol one was £10000 and the diesel £13450!!

I did some mileage fuel price difference comparisons and I would have had to drive my car around the world a few times to save the difference in the original purchase price
