FL Vrs Tsi = Good fuel economy!

Featured Replies

Just done a 30 mile trip on the M5 today. I set the cruise at 60 and despite a few overtakes at 70-75, the maxidot was showing just under 51 mpg. I was very surprised to see this as it is only slightly less than the Vrs PD I had previously owned.

The car has a Revo stage 1 remap and is only run on Shell V-Power, so not sure how much difference these make.

Prior to the remap, went to Yorkshire from Devon (about 270 miles), and sat at 80 with aircon on, maxidot was showing 38mpg. Got to say that I am very impressed with the figures. (I understand that the maxidot might be out slightly, but even so!)

How many times were you flashed for driving so slow:rofl:

Seriously, thats a good figure, I've had over 40mpg on a good run, but am averaging about 35 on by daily drive to/from work (15 miles round trip!)

Yeah , I must admit, I hate/never normally drive at that speed. Normally 80-85. Was just done to compare to last car. Still, pretty impressive.

I did at 270 mile trip the other day, mostly about 70 with the occasional overtake, and the occasional random 40mph on the M1! , When I got home, checked the maxidot, 42.6!

Was really happy with that!

Turbo Petrol units are VERY efficient on low rpm. Diesel (from the mpg point of view) has more or less no advantage if you drive your car like that.

You have to keep in mind that one Litre Diesel has more kWh than one Litre Petrol.

Add 10 to 12% to the fuel consumption of Diesel or to the mpg of the petrol unit to have a fair comparison.

It gets clearer if you compare the CO2 figures .

I find the only way to accurately measure fuel consumption is the fill to fill method, and even there you need to average out over 3-4 fills to allow for slight diffrences in filling.
