rear wiper has its own life

Featured Replies

On my brand new Octavia Estate 1.4, the rear wiper will start randomly. On some drives, there are no issues, while on others it will activate a wipe randomly. No rain, no activation of the front wipers, just a completely random activation. I have tried driving for 1 hour with no wipes, only to have it activate out of nowhere on the highway.

The dealer had no idea about the cause - he sent a tech question to the factory, which told him to replace the wiper engine and some wires, which they did.

That did not solve the problem, though.

Anyone else seen this happen - I fear that it is one of those issues that they really cant fix because it is not always reproducible, so it would be really helpful if I could get some hints or ideas to where the problem lies

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

Could it be a dodgy reversing switch ?

Sounds like something you might have to live with.

Regards,

D

I would try looking at the wiper stalk.

As Browny_37 states i think too its a switch related problem could possibly the relay.Think the dealer needs to be a bit more helpful too.
