Hi,

I am now the proud owner of a 1989 Skoda 135 GLi, here in B.C. Canada. I had been looking specifically for a Skoda for some time, but as you can image, they are not all that common over here. The plan is to build her up from a very solid lil' Skoda, into a very very nice solid lil' Skoda. I also own a 1973 BMW Bavaria and an 89 Alpina B10 3.5.

Given that its rather an orphan car over here, and I've never owned one before, I will have a ton of questions, so I hope that those with more knowledge than I will have pity on me over the next few months...

Best Regards,

Chris

Thanks for the welcome...

Don't have any proper pics yet, but here is a link to a local BMW forum where I posted some pics I took when I saw it for the first time. It has a huge exhaust, which will be going sooner than later...

Ok...Look what I found... - BCBimmers.Com

There are also a few pics of the car on this site - page 5/5 of the photo section - when it was owned by the previous owner...

The feedback on that Canadian BMW forum has been quite positive.

I guess we have more "badge snobbery" in the UK.

Having said that, most proper "petrolheads" (or dervheads) should be guided more by engineering than fashion, so hopefully should be more interested in quirky or rare motors.

Don't worry, I've already received my fair thrashing, but by the time of that threat, I had verbally bludgeoned everyone into polite submission - that plus its winter beater time, so although my Skoda will be sleeping till' spring, it looks positively hot compared to what some of the others have picked up...

Still, you are quite right, there is always an interest in odd or rare machines, esp. with the horrible lack of automotive diversity here over the last 15-20 years...

Take Care,

C
