How long for the first 10K service?

Featured Replies

Visted the local dealer today for its first 10K service - was suprised that it took almost 2 hours!

After about 25mins the service manager returned and said that it didn't need a service as it was set to variable, I then explained that it needed the servicing at 10K as it was covered by the Skoda free servicing deal. It then took another 90mins for them to complete the work

typo!

90 mins for a service sounds about right.

30 Min's at my local indie that's oil and all filters, 45 if it needs front or rear Bps

...yes, but he is "No Waiting"...

(sorry, couldn't but...)

HTH,

:orb_lol:

Never waited for a service before, but now the dealer charges a small fortune per mile for the courtsey car, I decided to wait this time...

A per mile charge for the courtesy? That's nice of them!

Sounds about the right length of time to me. Had you had it booked in beforehand? From what you've said they sounded like they were caught a little off-guard? Just wondering if that explains some of the time taken...

yes and at 50p per mile plus VAT!

Booked it in a good two weeks beforehand, and stressed I'd like the first job of the day while I waited. When I got there the paperwork appeared to be all printed and ready.

Ahh, I see. Just seems a bit odd that it took them until then to question the variable servicing issue....

If the service is anything like my dealer (Allams of Epsom) they spent a good 30-40 mins having a good old look over everything, Tyres / suspension / body / under bonnet and that was just an oil change too.

They also plugged mine into the computer to check for any faults, and to update the ECU.

Quite a thorough job they did actually.
