Hickups when accelerating - 1.4 tdi - HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing som serious problems with my Fabia 1.4 tdi from 2004. A week ago, the engine started to do some kind of "hickup", whenever I am trying to accelerate more than just a little bit. It sounds and feels like the engine only is using 2 instead of 3 cylinders, but as soon as I take the foot of the gas, the engine runs smoothly again (until I accelerate again).

No errors is showing up in the computer.

Any idea of whats wrong????

Every comment is highly appreciated!

Regards

Malke

If no codes, check air and fuel filters, especially air. HTH

Two of us seem to have had problems with crank position sensors on '04 1.4 TDIs recently, so this could be a possibility, although it usually seems to cause problems starting.

Ok - thanks so far. Fuel and air filters is ok.

Forgot to say that injectors are tested and ok...

Could be a break in the wiring to the injectors. The harness runs inside the head and the heat can cause it to fail.

Don't forget to check for leaks in the intercooler hoses as well.

Hi. I had hickups when accelerating hard and took some Rennies tablets.

Now I'm fine.

/\/\/\/\/\Seconded, how were the injectors tested? as they are also a distinct possibilty, you need to drive it with someone watching mvb and see what goes out of kilter:thumbup:
