Need a bigger car ... but what?

Featured Replies

Looks like I need a bigger car. Much as I love it it's not big enough to carry me and the kids/bike/kites/dog and I don't want to ruin it trying

So, probably an estate - diesel - a few toys - 'fun' to drive - enough poke to overtake when needed - no intergalactic mileage and be able to buy it for what I'll get for the Furby (54MY, 64k, FSH etc)

Always liked Legacy's but no diesel in my price bracket, A4 or 6 - bit too old/leggy for the money, 5-Series - servicing/economy etc

Always missed my old Omega estate with the Beemer diesel engine - anyone think of a good reason not to try another one with the 1.9 or 2.2 diesel?

I do enjoy driving cars that aren't too mainstream (136 rapide / Renault 4 / Estelle / BX 16V / 5 Turbo / Cooper S / 924S being some :D) so any ideas appreciated

Cheers

As above, a top motor.

Now we're talking  (off to check engine options / prices)

I always had a soft spot for those crazy Renaults. But just look at those overhangs. Makes the rear end on my Octy look positively pert.

Crossed the Avantime off the list, too much to go wrong with them - shame cos the style is spot on

That Saab is a lot off car for the money, looks good too. Is the engine a Saab unit or GM? I had been looking at a 3.0 diesel Signum and wondered if it's the same engine...

er...

quoting wikipedia.

9-5 - 3.0 V6TiD - 2001–2006 - Isuzu DMAX - V6, diesel - 2958 cc

The DMAX V6 engine is a 2,958 cc (2.958 L; 180.5 cu in) Diesel engine. It was designed, and is produced by Isuzu in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan but the design rights to the engine are now owned by General Motors.

so, yes, GM diesel.
