EGR disable

Featured Replies

Hello everybody.

I´ve been trying to disable egr on my pd140. I read some instructions in the FAQ at tdiclub.com. This procedure did not seem to apply to the BKD engine.

Does anybody know if it´s possible to allow my car to breathe fresh air instead of exhaust? (I don´t care to much if emission requirements are not met)

Can I simply pull off the vacuum hose on the egr valve without screwing up something?

Doing anything too drastic on the EGR will cause the CEL to come on more than likely. It did with the 1.9 anyway.

What you could do was turn it right down though with VAGCOM so it was hardly doing anything. I had this done on my Fabia VRS after my first EGR failed and was replaced under warranty. I didn't want it failing again after the warranty expired.

I have tried with VAG COM but don't seem to be able to affected. Have heard you are unable to change settings on it on the PD?

I did and mine was the PD130. Disconnecting it though normally causes a fault code.

Also how do you know your changes in VAG COM had no effect? It made no difference to the way my VRS drove at all but I did it for piece of mind so that the chances of a future failure were less.

In VAG COM you can see the values of the EGR during engine speed and load and with it 'disabled' in VAGCOM these values remained. Also read that it is not possible to disable or amend ERG settings on the PD TDI 140 engine with VAGCOM on another ste.

Go figure......
