can you move this thread somewhere it may warrant a response? please.

Yup - that is indeed a good deal especially if the postage is included AND the replacement engine cover is included - well over £400 worth.

Let me know if you don't buy it as I will.

Even though its a year old and done 10k?

These things don't really wear out, do they. The words 'hand, bite, off' come to mind

Wouldn't bother me personally - Not too familiar with the EVOMS but I think they use oiled filters - give it a clean with some proper materials - very cheap - and you're good as new, assuming all the pipework is in good condition etc.

£320 at JKM and the engine cover is another ton.

^^ yup :)

Well over 50% drop in a year sounds a good buy to me, but holy cow these things are expensive to start with!

If it's the one I just found on eBay, I suggest you get in there quick - I'm only not buying it out of politeness :)

I think it is, he mentioned it in another thread. And yes they are b****y expensive for what you get, but that seems to be the way with car mod bits. Like my rear ARB was about £150 for a bit of bent steel bar and a couple of poly bushes!

Thats the one mate, its now mine all mine, sorry!

Yes - I had a provisional offer accepted with the seller but thought it would dent my Karma if I bought it from underneath you

Not to worry. I've got a nice BSH one fitted but, amusingly enough, it sounds like a goose on full throttle so I wanted to see what the EVOMS was like in comparison.

I'll put up with the honking for a while longer :)

He did say there were other interested parties offering more money..........how very dare they!

Most of these CAI's are a pretty noisy when you boot it - but that's half the reason for fitting them isn't it?

Well, I've never had a CAI before this car so I can't speak from personal experience, but it makes an odd sound :)

I had a smoothed airbox on my old Leon, the result of which was just a louder induction sound and an audible blow off noise, albeit a quiet one.

The BSH in my VRS does the same, but when at full throttle there is a sound similar to blowing across the top of a bottle - i.e. a consistent note.

I've found many other people with the same noise from the same CAI and only stopped worrying I'd screwed something up on the installation after hearing a load of Golf GTIs on YouTube making the same noise!

Got an email from a chap called Phil at BSH who said this is a known problem with a re-mapped 2.0 TFSI - something to do with the air flow over the DV, and relocating the little bugger would solve it.

Was just curious to see if I got the same noise with the EVOMS (and also half wanted the engine cover) - maybe Pagey1255 can let me know his experience, if he's got a remap.

And if he hasn't, shame on him

Can't say i've heard that noise from my EVOMS, just the usual sucky whoosh whoosh!

Yes, I wondered if that would be the case - must be peculiar to the BSH for some reason.

Pleased otherwise though - great quality, excellent isolation from the engine bay, position is perfectly in line with the gaping hole left from taking off the OEM air scoop etc etc.

There is a DV relocation add-on for it so I'm looking out for a cheapy one second hand.

It does make an impressive sound to be fair - my favourite quote I found when researching it before buying was that it 'sounds like a bear raping a shark' :)

Ohhh, I hope its not noisy!! obviously I'm fitting it as a performance related modification.....

In my youth I had a Calibra turbo, dyno-ed at 326 bhp, that sucked, whooshed, popped, and whistled all the way....just before the engine blew that is, :(

No remap, what a sin, although I'm only at stage 1............at the moment.

Whilst I think about it, would it be worth running some ducting from the passenger side bumper insert to the underside of the cone filter behind the head light?

Well, the remap is officially the 'stage' so if you haven't had one yet, you're not really at stage 1...... but the EVOMS should free up a few HP so call it a stage 0.4 :)

You won't regret the remap - it's the best bang for your buck modification, especially if you go for someone like P-Torque who has very competitive prices.

After stage 1 the car just turns into a money pit to get more powerful  still fun though

Think you misunderstood old chap, I was being sarcastic....sorry!

The car is remapped, although the tuners don't refer to it as stage 1, just an aggressive remap that can accept further mods.....like the Evoms. :D

what tuner is this? Not heard of that before.

Sorry, mis-read it

I even took the trouble to quote what I mis-read too :rofl:

Angel Tuning, it was an interesting chat I had with them regarding all this TBH. I was basically asking what update/upgrade I needed to accept the CAI, to be fair they could have said blah, and charged me 50-100 quid, but they didn't.
