Reversing Camera and Mirror

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wondering if anyone had installed a reversing camera and one of the monitors that replaces the rear view mirror (basically acts as rearview mirror in normal conditions and switchs on the monitor when reversing).

I have seen a few kits which appear to fit above the rear number plate. Just wondering how you get the cable into the tailgate without drilling it (was thinking maybe going through one of the number plate lights).

If anyone has done this and can say 1 how easy is it, and 2 best setup to get.

I am looking at getting tow bar so dont really want actual parking sensors and also when reversing with the trailer on the back its quite small so hard to see whats happening.

Thanks

Jas

Surprised they havent added it as an option to the FL

I have the VRS LE Estate so the std headunit is the Balero, I have seen this camera here :

just wondering where you can buy these in the UK, and then get one of the monitors that either replace or clip on to the rear view mirror and try and feed through the head lining.

I am surprised no one has tried this :D

Love the installation.

But it's alright for you rich people with Octavia Mk2s, you've got plenty of great cameras available.

I've been looking for a camera for my Mk1 Estate, one that looks good and performs good, but everything seems set up for new cars. I suppose that if my car was older then people wouldn't be worried about bashing it so wouldn't shell out the time, effort & money on a quality camera.

There are plenty of cheap ones on eBay (£5 anybody?) but I want something better.

I've got an obsolescent but high-end nav/audio system (Pioneer AVIC-900DVD & AVH-P6500DVD) that has a quality monitor and a camera input so don't need a screen.

So I'm going out armed with a tape measure to find some other model that has the same size tail light as me.........
