Rattle in Neutral - Clutch gone?

Featured Replies

Hi,

when I drove home today from work just before I got home I felt that there was some slight noise from the Clutch/Gearbox coming.

When I arrived home and put it into neutral I heard a slight rattle. When I pressed the clutch the rattle went away.

Does that sound as if the clutch is on it's way out? It's a 55 1.9tdi with 98K miles on the clock, and has still the original clutch.

If it is the clutch, do you usually always replace Clutch and Flywheel together, or is the flywheel only changed when required?

Cheers,

dsab

Sounds like it might be a DMF problem.

My clutch is only 30k old and has done this since i got it 21k since. No problems since i've had it anyway (touch wood)
