climatronic heater problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys hoping some of you knowledgeable chaps can point me in the right direction.

I have a 55 superb that i have a problem with not blowing hot air.The climatronic panel seems to be working ok by this i mean the blower increases and decreases, the temp readings go up and down when prompted, the outside temp is true,it illuminates as normal, all the positions change when prompted but it seems as if the temp being blowen into the cabin is stuck at 18 even although you can move the display right through from lo to hi but it never changes the temp blowing into the car.

I have checked all the pipes and they are just as you would expect them roasting hot with the engine temp gauge reading as normal with no over heating,I have changed the climatronic panel but still the exact same. What i have noticed is that if i have it on the front screen setting and i add any of the other settings as the force gets reduced for a split second you get a burst of hot air from the screen vents.

Any information would be gratefull as going to work the last few mornings has been quite an event.

Thanks in advance James

flap stuck in the blower thingy behind the glovebox?

Get the car checked for error codes is probably the way to start.

Can anybody tell me is the easiest way into the blower mechs by taking the glovebox out? Would i be able to see what i'm looking for from there?

Just got this feeling it's not going to as easy as that and be a dash strip out job to get to the heater box

I believe there is some sort of removable panel on the top of the blower unit. No sure about the superb but the in the octavia it is just a case of removing 5 screws and disconnecting the light to remove the glovebox.

If it is the flap getting stuck then you should be able to check that with VCDS which would be easier than dismantling half the car.

Thanks again trundlenut.I have started the dash strip down glovebox out, radio, climatronic and tray out along with the bracketry.

Does anybody know of a site that would have a diagram of the heater setup so i can trace what bits i'm looking for?

I had a similar problem with my Audi A6. Turned out to be the motor which operates the hot/cold flap. The cost of a new motor was not too bad - about £50 - but to replace it meant taking half the car apart - I think they start off with the heater box on the production line and build the rest around it. Final bill was around a grand. The Superb may of course be different..............

The actual climate unit in the dash below the radio is known to be a weak point as well, I suspect as the others have said it's a fan flap, but if it doesn't cure it, it could be the actual CC unit, are you running in eco mode, cos if you aren't and have it set to about 20 it will still blow cold due to the aircon running.
