I have read a little about venting the fuel tank, what is it?

Allows extra fuel to be put in, by filling up the expansion tank (mainly needed for petrol due to fumes). Not something that is recommended for petrols, unless they are going to be driven for a long distance straight away.

I don't how to do it though I am affriad.

i only found out about it about 6months ago and i never looked back. i am the type of person who hates filling up. even yesterday I filled up 53.30litres. basically, when you put the nozzle in, there is a nipple which you have to have to hold down(using the nozzle) while you fill. this enables you to fill in an extra 10-15litres. if only i knew before. if you do a search, you will get much better info on the subject. try typing in vectonomy. hope this helps.

Thankyou for your reply, as far as i can tell you fill it till click, do it again, wait, fill again wait etc. Why do people say it was on available on diesels? I have been doing this for years in petrol cars or am i missing the point?

Yes, you''re missing the point. Nothing to do with fill it, click..........There's a button at the neck of the filler tube which you can depress as you fill up. As already said in another post this allows fuel to enter an expansion tank. Simple as that.

It sounds to me like you're missing the point. When you press down on the "nipple" just inside the filler neck you can hear a hissing as air escapes from the expansion tank, you can then put in more fuel. You seem to be refering to waiting for the fuel to settle in the filler neck before adding more.

The ventectomy doesn't allow any extra fuel capacity, it just allows you to fill quicker/easier w/o having to manually press in the vent button. To get the tank completely FULL you still need to fill the last few gallons in small increments allowing the foam to disolve, add some more, wait, add.....until you have clear, foam free fuel up to the top of the filler tube.
