Columbus disc stuck!

Featured Replies

I was trying to do the 2664 upgrade and inserted the disc. It was accepted and then the message asking for the SWL disc to be loaded appeared even though it was already loaded. Nothing happens and I cannot eject the disc! Have tried reset and restarting the SWL process! Any ideas.... please?

Take the quadlock plug out of the rear and leave it without 12v for a while, than plug it back in.

Magic, thanks - sounds of movement but no disc!

The Columbus I bought from EBay did exactly this the first time I inserted a CD.

Was upgrading the maps - kept telling me there was an error reading the disk and then made all the noises to eject - but no disc.

Not really much help to you, but I returned the unit to the seller and he returned it to me with the disc removed and I've not had a single problem inserting/ejecting discs since.

So that tells me it is possible to repair.

Little progress to report. Having tried the numerous remedies offered when "stuck CD" is entered into Google - none worked for me - I took the unit to an ICE outlet. They removed the disc by taking off the covers. I burnt another disc and tried again, with the same result! Apart from getting the message to load the SW disc none of the usual progress messages appear despite much disc whirring. So I'm not sure if this is a s/w or h/w issue. Any ideas?
