Audience mp3 integrated 6cd compatibility

Featured Replies

Hi All,I am about to acquire an Audience head unit from a 2008MY Octy L & K from a fellow Briskodian inc security code.I intend on fitting to a 2005 Octy Elegance with non mp3 stream.I would expect the reverse sensors and climate to continue displaying as these worked on the L&K, I do not have a maxidot, so don't need to worry about that. Can you confirm if the above will work inc the steering controls and multi boot changer, is there anything that needs doing to make it work? Do I need to replace the surround to move to an Audience from Stream? Finally, I do not have a MP3 jack in the jumbo box and I would like to retrofit somewhere, can you confirm that the head unit has the option and also that it is an easy retro fit? I beileve a couple of Briskodians have fitted this unit to cars and there is a writeup on adding the aux in. One point to note I recently added a handsfree kit that has a mute box to the car and I remember it plugging in-line to the wiring, does this have the potential to prevent the Audience being fitted in?Many thanks in advance

Bump!Surely someone can help, please?

it will work exactly as the stream does now with regards to its functions, however the CD changer in the boot of the car will not work with the audience as it has no external cd changer connections because it has one internally. The 2005 audience has no way to connect an external aux in at all, so you will not have that functionality. There is an option in the audience menu to turn it on, but it does nothing since the necessary connections are not prresent on the headunit.

Phone kit will be fine, but why use a mute kit when you can feed the phone kit audio straight into the headunit and amplify it properly like I did when I had the audience.

Hi Manny,Thanks for the reply. The Audience unit is from a 2008 year Octy, and I have been informed the car it came from had a 3.5mm jack in the jumbo box, so i would expect the connections on the rear of the Audience unit, would you not agree. If the unit is compatible with my 2005 car in general, all i need to wire in is a 3.5mm jack and i believe there are write ups on the forum for retro-fitting this.would you agree? On the hands free, it mutes the stream and displays phone when the mobile is being used, as its connected to a bluetooth nokia kit, it also uses the car speakers for the sound, I am happy with the integration. Thanks again.

If the Audience's original car came with the 3.5mm jack, then wiring one up into the glovebox should work. If you search on the forum there is a how to somewhere. Other than that and make sure you get the radio code, you should be fine.

Regards the phone intergration what you have described was what Manny was talking about and would work in the same way on the Audience.

Finally got round to fitting the audience mp3 unit to the car in place of the Stream.

Got a few issues now

1) The phone mutebox (Elan Easi mute) does not mute the radio or display phone on screen, looking at the pin out prints on both stereos they have changed, the phone kit powers up and pairs ok.

2) I cannot find the write up on how to wire in an mp3 3.5mm socket on the all new Briskoda forum

3) There is a feature i would like to use called AIM for traffic info and I think I need a 2 into one Fakra connector, can someone point me in the right direction.

4) Should I disconnect the cd changer wiring if they are not required from the can bus connector?

Other than that, 6 cd's up front is good and it sounds a lot better than the stream.

1), Just change the mute pin to the other location and the headunit will behave exactly the same as the stream.

2). Aux in does not work on all Audience headunits, if its an older one even though the option to enable it is in the menu there is no external connections to wire it in. If the diagram does not show an aux in then you have an older unit.

3). Aim is present on the Audience you need to first turn it on in the menu, and define your time ranges before it will work, its the top right button on the front.

Thanks Mannyo

I will look at the mute pin, is that really all that has to change?

I have a 2008 Audience double din an it has aux in printed on the sticker, so will try another search on forum.

I want the aim to work on the time ranges, but so far it has not picked up anything, is it because i need to connect both aerial connectors (fakra) my stream only had on connection and the audience has 2 connections on the rear, maybe the second one is for AIM? If its not for AIM whats the other connector for?

Bump

Yes, for the phone just switch the mute pin, the audio input for the phone is on the same pins as always.

Thanks mannyo

anyone confirm what the 2 fakra type connectors

are on the back of the 2008 audience one is obviously for radio antenna what's the other ?

The other is for a diversity antenna, ie. a second aerial to help reception in poor areas. With the OEM fitment its fitted the rear side windows on the estate. You can get a Y adapter so that you can connect both connectors to the same aerial, this is what I have with my columbus that also has 2 Fakra aerial connections. Its on the Kufatec.de website, but they want quiet a lot to ship it to the uk.
