Featured Replies

Hi.Shop has sold me Semi but the book says just multigrade 5-40w (I think) but it says for petrol engines not VRS. I know you can,t mix them, I,ve got semi now is this ok to use. Thanks

You can use any oil that meets the specification of VW 503.00/503.01/505.01/506.00/506.01. Usually states it on the back on the bottle and would usually be a 5w/30 or 5w/40 grade.

According to what I've read....... For variable (long life) servicing you need a fully synthetic 5W-30. For fixed (10,000miles/12months) you can use semi synthetic 10W-40 if you like. Both have to meet all the appropriate VAG oil specs for your engine. I use Castrol Edge 5W-30, and change the oil every 10k miles. It's really expensive stuff, but good stuff. If I didn't use that, I'd use Castrol Magnatec 10W-40. What oil have they actually sold you? P.S. Pretty easy to find this information via google. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ http://www.castrol.com/castrol/castrolhomepage.do?categoryId=3205&contentId=6031662
