that what i thought but i havent had any issues starting before just came on all of a sudden

I had similar issues a couple of weeks back; garage says the battery is fine, and gave up on the fault codes because it threw about 20 of them! I'm wondering about the sprague clutch in the alternator pulley.

Were the headlights also dim? If so it is a charging problem rather than a battery problem. It could be the alternator or a poor connection from the alternator to the battery. Worth checking the connections in the high current fuse box by the battery - the wire from the alternator can get very hot at the fuse connection if corroded or loose. Having discharged the battery to a low voltage, it is not going to last so once the fault is confirmed and fixed it is common sense to replace the battery.
