My wife who drives the car more than i do, informed me that a warning light appeared on the display in shape of a thermometer.....i'm assuming thats to do with water and cooling. As i was miles away in my truck at the time , i had to guide her to where the expansion bottle was and get her to check the amount of coolant in the bottle.

She called back and said it was a little low and topped it up with water, which eliminated the temp guage symbol on the warning display. A week later she said it came on again! but managed to do it herself without contacting me.

I've looked in the engine compartment with engine off and again with engine on, and i cant seem to find anything thats showing signs of an obvious leak. I havent had the engine cover off yet , as i want to investigate if any of the hoses containing coolant are to blame.

Is there anywhere else i should investigate in order to trace the leak? The oil filler cap shows no sign of sludge build up as oil is changed every 6,000 miles along with the oil filter, so i'm thinking that the head gasket is fine and no water residue is present inside the cap oe dipstick for that matter. Does anyone on here had the same problem? or maybe point me in the right direction? as the car i nearing the end of the warranty, and major expense is the last thing on my mind right now.thanks for any info on this thread.......regardsd andy .

Superb's are prone to rad leaks, I've had to have a new one, Look for white crusting anywhere on the rad especially around the joints, you probably won't see any coolant because if it leaks like mine did it was only when it was hot and the hole expanded but closed when cold and becuase it only leaks when hot it evaporates of and this is why a white crust is left.

fortunately for me it coincided with my cam-belt change so as it has to be removal out of the way my dealer used a warantee i'd got and did the cam-belt as part of the job, only cost me the cam belt kit extra, saved me a fortune
