Octy vRS, Full beam bulb on H.I.D / Xenon's

Featured Replies

Ladies & Gents,

I have H.I.D. / Xenon's on my vRS but obviousley my full beam is just a standard bulb and i want to replace it with a whitey blueish bulb to match my dipped beam and get some L.E.D. side lights to match.

Does anyone know what type of bulb the full beam is?????

Thanks in advance,

Ross

IIRC they're H7s. Since you've got Xenon dips, you want a 50% brighter "brilliant white" upgrade for light performance and colour. Try Powerbulbs, and if they've got the "blue white" sidelight bulbs offer on, fit those as well!

Don't think it's an H7 - no black coating on the tip. Possibly an H1?

The main beam lamps with xenons are H1's,I fitted Phillips blue vision lamps as they burn much whiter than the standard yellowish lamps fitted, and they match the xenon quite well. And if you get them from Powerbulbs you get free blue vision side light lamps which are much brighter and whiter as Rob prooves.

They are indeed H1s, and the best LEDs I've found that match the OEM colour temp (4300K) are PIAA H458 which are 4500K.

They're not cheap, but they're nearly perfect in colour match, unlike 99% of the LEDs around that are nearer 6000K and look blue compared to the OEM HID.

I can't vouch for either of those places as I got mine from ebay from HK :)

edit: I think I got mine from here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/The-Brand-New-Japan-PIAA-Super-Tera-LED-4500K-T10-H-458_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a4bc2179bQQitemZ250379114395QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

My Y Reg L&K has HID Xenons.I wanted to fit H1s Halford Extreme but Skoda dealer says "Not advisable, you have plastic "Glass" and these much brighter lights get much hotter than standard H1s and they could damage the plastic. They'd be OK with glass "Glass"." Does this seem likely?

Sorry about the two previous mis-posts in this section, PC playing up :-(

3.5 years down the line, there's no sign of lens damage from using 50% brighter 60/55W H4s on mine. Don't fit any of the 100W or higher bulbs though, since they've been known to melt through the reflectors at the bulb carriers.
