Tyres - Kumho -v- Toyo

Featured Replies

Have Kumho KU31 (225/45/17) on Darth but need 2 new ones (fronts are worn out B) )

As thread title - I'd be interested in comparisons between the two. I do NOT need to be told that Michelin/Pirelli/whatever are great at £120 each (or whatever). I can get 2 KU31 for £160 fitted and have been very happy with the previous victims!

Having run the Proxy t1-s and the kuhmo ku31 on my vrs I prefered the Kumho, they were slightly quiter and seemed to offer better grip from cold.

Also Kumho have recently released the kh31 which is the asymetrical sport tyre (matching the ku31), I ran a pair of these 205/50/16 on my octi tdi (on the rear) and found the rear to feel a little more stable at speed on the motorway especially if the roads were very wet other than that no real difference to the ku31.

I doubt I'll ever move away from Kuhmos, SWMBO's Rav required 4 new tyres when we bought it and 'Yes' the Bridgstones were swapped for Kumhos, much quieter and a much firmer more resonsive ride and at £70 each inc fitting/balancing you can't grumble for 235/60/16

Personally, nothing to choose between them as far as grip, Toyos rather noisy, and Toyos get pretty dire especially in the wet when worn (and they wear super fast). I'd save the £20 or so and go Kumho.

I'll vote for the Khumo's. I'm running a full set and really like them.

The Toyo's seem to wear out stupidly fast on a friends Focus.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

Ran through 2 sets of KU31's on my old Ibiza and now working my way trough a set on the Fabia. No complaints.

Both are good... Toyo's wear a bit faster though

Just too confuse the issue .........................

My kuhmos lasted around 5k

The toyos last around 10 k

Confused ..........So am I lol

5k?! I ran ku31's for a good while on my octy and they were still excellent when I sold it. I put 25k on a set on my passat before I sold that, and again they had loads of life left...

im running both and must say the toyo offers better grip

and last longer imo.

but both very good tyres and would use both again

I'm running KU31's on my Octy and previously on my A4. Only fault with them I would say is they don't wear to well. The fronts are due replacing soon and have only cover about 7000 miles. For grip and value they are superb.

I also have Toyo's on my Mk2 Jetta and I don't think they are great in the wet but are wearing well.

Running toyo proxes on the back of my vrs and have no issues with noise,i am very happy with mine, have michelin primacy,s on the front and am very happy with those too
