hi there mine has done 80k at present.

hi there...well as we all know on the superb tdi 140, they have the dpf incorporated with the emissions system..and basically when the dpf becomes restricted, the sensors send signals for additive to be mixed with the fuel in order to burn off deposits within the filter...and any residue ( ash ) which cant be burned off remains in the filter and eventually clogs up. But i would assume all the time the dpf tank has the special fluid in its tank, and the sensors tell the tank to introduce the fluid into the fuel system when reqired, all should be fine, provided one does lotsof highway journeys. If the car does local town, stop/start trips then its quite possibly the car will throw the warning light on more often, and the car has to under go a trip for a mini blast so speak.....failure to do that, will put the car into limp home mode and thats when the problems start..if the warning light on your car is on and off frequently, then i would get the fluid tank checked and filled up asap......or it could be the filter reaching the end of its life !!.....but i cant believe it will be blocked, tho dont take my word on this. Either way, they will be able to check out both items before deciding what is the best ecconomical solution to curing the problem. I know servicing this type of engine requires everything including air filter and the engine oil to be clean....thats why i get my car serviced every 6k miles rather than wait for the message to appear on the info display, anything upto 15k service intervals is false ecconomy in my opinion, and is asking for trouble. I have a particular system whereby the car is driven on motorway or similar on a weekly basis, and after 3yrs of local town driving by my wife, we have never had a warning light come on , especially th exhaust shaped one on the dash (touch wood).

So get your car checked sooner than later on those two items previously mentioned, and hopefully the light will go out and stay out.......kind regards......andy
