ABS & TC lights lit after brief drive in the snow.

Featured Replies

Hi all

Im seriously getting fed up of the ongoing saga with the skud now, i like the style and comfort of the car. Im just suffering with the many reliability issues i seem to be having.

Yesterday the expansion tank was empty (i've never had a tank empty its self unless the plastic had failed) So with that topped up im now monitoring that issue.

Now tonight in the snow the ASR and ABS lights have come on, which i thought may have been attributed to the lack of front wheel grip and different speed sensor readings whilst climbing a hill.

If im to restart the car the ASR light clears but the ABS remains on, if i drive off at around 10mph both lights extinguish. At 15mph i lose both the ASR and ABS and both lights re-light up.

I've tried driving a distance on clear roads, without any success either.

I've tried disconnecting the battery for 20-30mins without any joy.

Now interestingly, if i turn the ignition off and coast and restart the car. Before the lights both light up again i can stick the brakes on harsh and get the abs to kick in.

Moving off on snow with the ASR enabled, limits the car until both lights come on above 15mph.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Im thinking it could be a loose connection, but i'll be damned if im taking the wheels off at 11pm just to get to the connectors. Either that or the abs/speed sensor in the hub has gone kaput!

Were due for a heavy snow shower during the night, so im a little worried about the journey to work tomorrow.
