Leaking Door

Featured Replies

alryt guys hows it going? i have the old leaky door syndrome going on on the back doors, so the door cards have come off and iv re-sealed the whole of the doors so they arnt leaking now, but iv still got water collecting on the back sills which is then rolling over into the footwell, so im getting wet footwells and with the temperature being so low recently im getting ice on the inside of my window, any ideas what i can do?

the door inner panel is still leaking on that side, so you best have another go at sealing it

+1 for seal still leaking. Unless you can get the seals perfectly dry, any silicon based sealant wont stick properly. That's why I use Unibond 3 in 1 sealant, as it will dry even on wet surfaces. I also seal up the carrier rivets. Doesn't look pretty but my car is bone dry inside :D

Sounds like your doors are still leaking. If you don't want to have another go at sealing them at the moment (due to it being freeeeeeeeeezing!), you could try what I've done - black bin liner over the door cill (so it runs from one end to the other), shut the door, and peg it to the map pocket - it should force any water that runs down out (mine's been like it for 2 weeks and has been fine). Any water in the carpets can mostly be removed with a VAX-type machine, and the remainder soaked up by leaving newspaper in the wells for a bit.

Looks like im going to have to brave the elements and try and seal it again doesnt it lol :( o well il give it another try and see where we get with that. cheers guys

Forgot to mention, you may want to invest in the new modified clips that hold the door card in place. They have a better seal, and are more robust in general. Only about £2.65 for 14 which is enough to replace all the clips on both rear doors.

Hi Guys,

Same issue here - I've had all door seals replaced under warranty. Then when those leaked after a few months the garage replaced the replacements foc.

However, I've noticed recently I'm getting really bad condensation in the back windows and the off-side rear door is freezing solid overnight and can't be opened in the morning. Turns out there are streams of water freezing in the door sill thats causing it.

Unfortunately, I'm not well skilled at swinging a spanner so haven't had a go at putting in a fix (plus, if the truth be told, i'm lazy). Anyone know if I can get a garage to sort this without charging for replacement seals which aren't doing the job?

Cheers

GC

I'm going to have to go through this process (as soon as its a bit warmer). Are the new clips a Skoda part, or do they come from somewhere else?

Paul.

New clips are now the standard part a Skoda dealer will sell you (Unless they have loads of old stock of the 1st type) New type is much more robust, and has a larger rubber seal.
