Fabia vRS to Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

i've had my fabia vrs for over a year now just wondering if you think its worth the upgrade to the 1.8T ocatvia vrs?

i know fuel effiency wont be as good but are there any other points i should be aware of?

I have to ask why? Do you need a bigger car? What are your reasons for changing mate.

It's a nicer place to be

Better handling, more space, quicker, wider power band, huge boot, looks better, better dashboard/ergonimics.

Do it :)

i've got a growing family and i've tried to put a buggy in the back and there little room for anything else so i need better access to the back seats etc

Having had both they are completly different to drive. give me the Octavia any day  , the octavia will feels more raw and involved to drive (firmer suspension, firmer seats, better biting brakes etc) on the other side I found I feel less tired on a long run in the fabia due to softer drive and the more lazy/relaxed drive of the diesel engine.

If you want the space you can't beat the mk1 octavia vrs but if you still want to retain the economy and cheaper insurance consider buying the octavia tdi and upgrading the suspension/get a remap/ change to vrs bumpers and Golf GTI or Recaro seats) I did this and my tdi octavia was still cheaper to insure than the octavia vrs.

cheers for the advice guys will keep it in mind for when i start looking after the new year

or get one on LPG. Then its more economical than a diesel

emoticon-0148-yes.gif brother inlaws got a nissan 200sx running about 280 bhp and thats had lpg conversion. does about 26mpg, but at half the price of petrol, so its costs him the same per mile as it does me per mile in the felicia 1.9 diesel and that does 50mpg. if only it was more practical as the lpg tank takes up most of the boot space and he cant carry a spare wheel emoticon-0149-no.gif

My Octavia vRS returns 38ish mpg on a run, the Mrs' PD130 Ibiza returns about 45ish.

Around town the Octavia is alot worse but otherwise it isn't bad.

The best advice I can give is for you to test drive an Octavia vRS and make up your own mind. My Octavia 4X4 and Fabia vRS are completely different in character and to drive. If I had to choose between the two, I would definitely keep the 4X4.
