old PS3 HDD

Featured Replies

bought a caddy for my original 40gb PS3 HDD,

the HDD is running, drivers loaded etc, but it doesn't show up in computer/my computer, device manager says it is working correctly,

anybody any idea what i'm doing wrong, tried it on XP + Vista, both the same

should i have formatted it before i removed it from my PS3 ?

Try looking in Control panel>administritive tools>computer managament>disk managment , then if there format it.

Yes, you will need to delete the PS3 partition using the tool posted above and then create a new one that a PC can understand. Simply plugging the drive in is not enough.

gone into that, the HDD is showing as unallocated, i can't do any type of formatting, i did get the HDD online as it did have a "no-entry" symbol showing

right click on the unallocated bit and click create simple volume and go through the wizard.

it wouldn't do that, but it did let me make a new partition, so i have got it working now, thanks for the replies
