Loss of power for one second

Featured Replies

Any advice for this problem?

My throttle/power cuts for almost one second (sometimes for less than a second). This seems to occur when engine has warmed up and usually happens two, three times in 100 km trip and especially when in town speeds after cruising in main roads. No dash warnings, no flickering lights or anything, just that annoying one second pause...

I'm not sure but sometimes the engine seems seems to vibrate in idle, especially after short trip.

The model is late 2004 1.8T Comfort.

how many miles has your superb done? could it be the high tension leads breaking up? or spark plugs need replacing? un fortunately my car is diesel, but from previous problems with similar concerns i had with my previous car ( rover quad cam v6 ) mine was related to duff leads......and cost me £95 for a full set !! letshope someone else pops in and comes up with more advice.....regards andy

Thanks Andy!

My odometer reads 143 000 km (/ 89 000 miles), I just got the car a week ago. Service history seems to be impeccable plus the previous owner has kept every receipt.

I'll try replacing plugs first and then the leads.

Other than that if it that doesn't work

- clean up the throttle body (couldn't hurt!)

- temp sensor?

- MAF?

- anything other suggestions?

I'd be looking at the coolant sensor if the car doesn't misfire, it's a known weak point and cheap to do, other than that maybe a sticky injector, can of fuel treatment should sort that one, stick a new air and fuel filter in it as cheap remedies, if there's an egr hose check that aint got a wee hole in it also, and that all pipes going to the airbox and on properly.
