Wipers

Featured Replies

I am sure I read this somewhere - prob here - but how do you set the wipers so you can put them up to change / clean underneath etc. I ask as I've only had the car about a week and want to clear the snow ice etc from the trough / in around the wipers before setting off and noticed you can't lift them totally up as they foul on the bonnet (or "hood" for you non uk persons ;-)).

Ignition on and off then your wiper lever down. not tried this but thats what i get from page 71 of the manual! This is the service position for changing or i guess you can just turn the engine off mid wipe?

Parking the wipers up as described in the previous post works for me - make sure you've unstuck them from the windscreen first if its icy though. To change the wiper blades you have to park them vertically on the windscreen, so the function is essential.

The alternative is to switch off the ignition when the wipers are running, to park them at any angle you prefer, but remember to switch the wipers to 'off', otherwise when you switch the ignition on next time the wipers will also start, which may not be what you want.

I confirm that the method is as post #2. A bit of a fag if all you want to do is clean the screen and wipers of snow and get off to work ASAP.The wipers will revert to park automatically after you drive at about walking pace. Otherwise if you switch them on/off manually.
