TOP Spec Scout - Leather - VRS Engine?

Featured Replies

Hello Chaps, been asked about the Scout and the top spec one can set up. Anyone got a rough idea of what level & cost would equate to the current VRS range? Like the 2.0 CR engine, but friend would love leather etc from the VRS in the Scout, any vibes appreciated.

The Scout currently only comes with the 2.0 PD not the 2.0 CR that is available in the VRS. From what I've heard on these forums the Scout should be getting the CR engine around June. At list price a Scout with the 2.0 PD engine and leather seats would be £22,895 (£21,460 without).

The base spec for the vRS and Scout are fairly similar (Bolero stereo, jumbo box, alarm, dual zone climate control) but it is hard to spec up a Scout to the same level as a vRS as most of the differences are unique to that model:

Features in the vRS but not the Scout:

  • vRS body kit (spoiler etc)
  • vRS part leather seats
  • Lowered suspension
  • XDS stability control
  • Tire pressure monitor
  • Extra speakers

Features in the Scout but not the vRS:

  • 4x4
  • Hill hold control
  • Rear parking sensors (extra on the vRS)
  • Raised suspension
  • Auto dimming rear view mirror & rain sensor (extra on vRS)

Hope this helps.

Michael thanks for the breakdown there. Exact;y what I was after. Cheers.

That was an interesting comparison. Here in Australia rear parking sensors, auto dim mirror and auto wipers are standard on the vRS along with heated seats.

One other difference (here at least) is that with the manual trans models on the Scout you get steering wheel controls on the vRS you do not.

Plus -

Scout body kit

Headlight washers (and therefore low washer bottle warning)

Fairground Ride style grab handle for the passenger!

Bigger wheels

Erm heated seats...in Australia. I bet they get a lot of use.

How much were you for the spec you have if you don't mind old chap.

The scout might have bigger tyres but the vRS has 18" wheels whereas the Scouts are 17" diameter.

Steve I sometime miss my old 17" alloys on my Mk I VRS. So no great problem for me.

So is it you that is looking to change to a Scout? ;)

Eventually I would consider a scout or yeti with souped up engine (that subconsciously slipped in :p ), but I am genuinely asking for a friend who has seen my LE but fancies a 4x4, I am pretty clued up on current VRS, but asking advice of folks with all the trimmings and extras on their Scouts.

Interesting seeing the spec of the Yeti with the 2.0 CR 170 engine and a load of trimmings like leather etc :
