Brakes Failed on VRS!

Featured Replies

This is probably related to the other problem I'm having.....

I've been having trouble with lumpy running on light throttle - this is the thread I started for this issue:

Lumpy, light throttle problem

Something far more serious has happened now though:

On my way to work this morning the EPC light came on and the power disappeared. At the same time as these the Traction control light came on. Stopping and starting got rid of the EPC light, but I had to keep the power off for several seconds before the Traction Control light would go.

On the way home the EPC light / lack of power / Traction Control light came on and the engine started misfiring really badly.

As I turned into my drive it seemed like the brake servo had stopped working and I nearly crashed into the house.

When I run the engine now it stutters and f*rts and is make a graunching noise every few seconds from the front/top of the engine - sounds like its under the inlet manifold but I could be wrong on this.

Help!

Brake servo hose could be perished and letting air into inlet manifold and you would loose vacuum. Mine was cracking apart and needed replacing. The hose runs from the right-hand side of the inlet manifold, under the MAF then round to the brake servo. This wouldn't flash up any warning lights that I am aware of but well worth checking the condition of this as this could be the braking issue, not sure if it would link to the EPC/Traction control light.

yep sounds like the hose from the inlet manni to brake servo has either failed or popped off

That all ties in with the lack of brakes, really rough running etc, so many thanks for that.

I got hold of a friends Sun Solus Scanner, connected up to the ODBC port and got this from communicating with the Engine

IGNORE the battery voltage one - the garage I bought it off allowed the battery charge to dissapate.

The machine can also talk to the braking system so I got did that and got this

Does this back up everyone's analysis?
