Query with XBOX 360

Featured Replies

I've just bought an XBOX 60GB HDD as the 256MB on my arcade machine was full. I was just wondering, as I had created a new profile in Forsa 2 on the original 256MB memory, do all of the changes get transferred to the hard disk? It asks me to select a memory device when I start the game - and I am currently choosing the memory card, do additional changes get saved to the new hard disk during the game? :wonder: Im usually good with pc stuff, but this one has me a little confused. It has saved the details of Forza on the hard disk by the looks of it. I don't want to find I can only get so far into the game and then it says that the memory is full! I tried copying the profile and game data from the 256MB memory onto the new HDD but it doesn't like it!

My other query is whether you can back up an XBOX 360 HDD and if so how? I tried linking my XP, and my Vista pc with the xbox via a CAT5 crossover cable, however XP does not see it at all, and the laptop sees the XBOX but does not enable you to access the disk! I have checked the cable is definitley a cross over and not just a standard patch cable by linking my laptop and PC together. I have had a quick look on the net re linking the XBOX and it looks like it needs the Windows Media Center version of Vista. If anyone has any thoughts I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance :)

You can't see any of the filesystem/disc contents with an ethernet lead on a standard console (not sure about hacked ones either). All you can do, in theory, is share media and internet connection.

Don't think the standard HDD can be backed up, unless you can find some way of connecting it to the PC directly.

With regards to the data, I would guess just selecting copy, but as you say you've already tried that, I have no ideas. What you maybe albe to do is remove the memory card, and 'Migrate Account' over to the HDD, this should copy all of the game saves and everything over to the HDD from the memory card. (Not sure on tuning setups, photos and replays, but it should be the carea progress etc). However that will only work if your account is an online one (gold or silver).

You cannot backup a 360 HDD. This is an attempt to stop game savers and hexers.

As for moving the data, you may find that some things won't move. You may be able to move some stuff over, but certain games data won't. Why, I don't know. That's just the way it is!

Using the memory option on the 360 dashboard, you can copy the contents from the 256mb memory to the 60gb hdd and then delete the data from the 256mb memory. Look under "My Xbox", its listed under settings.

you should be able to move 90% across to the hdd including your profile.

Thanks for the replies.

I wonder if you can use accronis easy migrate to do it.
