'Cheap' bits....

Featured Replies

Basically, just bought my VRS and pretty skint atm. Now, I don't like my car being the same as every other on the road, I like it to be at least slightly nique.

Anything I can do thats err 'cheap' to make mine differ from every other standard VRS out there?

Colourcoding of bits or something!?

Chris.

Colour coding the grill is a popular mod and cheap to do.

Leon Cupra front splitter is also cheap and looks good.

Have a search through some of the build threads on here and you'll soon see what is most popular.

I thought about colourcoding the grille already actally, easy to do!?

Do you know paint codes too? I'll rattlecan it myself, got pretty good at spraying over the last couple of years...

No Seat dealers round here, but gonna be visiting Lancaster on Monday which has one, so might ring ahead and get a Cupra R splitter on order, or PD160 intake...hmmmm

Black door pillar trims? Not sure on price/avaibiltiy though, and pointless if you car is black!

Colour coding the grill should be pretty straight forward, it's getting the nasty chrome off that would be the problem. The LCR splitter is a nice easy mod, just chop to size and screw in good.

I'll definately be doing the grille sometime next week. All I have to do is sand down & spray the chrome?

Anybody know the paint code or anything? Or is it just Black Magic or something?

Edited by CJS-90

Yes all I did with my grille was to give it a proper rubbing down, none of this leaving to soak overnight stuff. Primed, then sprayed/lacquered. Its been on there for well over a year now, and still looks great.

Cheapest place I found for the paint, was actually at the dealers! It was a £7 for Black Magic, and also the lacquer to finish it off (in rattle cans).

Si.

You'll find the paint code on the sticker engine sticker inside your spare wheel well in the boot.

Yeh, a very good sand down and then spray with acid-etch primer. Do it somewhere very well ventilated as that stuff is nasty

I've had a few ideas over the last couple of years that I've not done for one reason or another.

One of them was a green pin stripe around the lower grilles lip.

Another was some rear light tint... but not the whole unit.. if you've got face lift rear lights (05 plate onwards) with the white V then just the top red bit.. would look kinda Merc C class coupe'ish, but would need a black car.

Taa, Rob.

Stubby aerial?

I`v colour coded my grill, and the LCR front splitter. Both make the difference, and another Fabia owner would notice (if they knew what they were driving) without your regular Joe noticing, nice and subtle.

Matt

colour coding grill is relatively easy job if your technically/mechanically minded to a degree as it can be quite fiddly...important bit is keying the chrome prior to paint or it will chip easily...

Thanks for the input guys.

I don't have a Skoda dealer local, so i'll nip over to Halfords this afternoon to get some primer & Black Magic paint (already got laquer)

Aerial is a good shout too. Got some ideas now, i'll probably have to wait a few weeks now though due to front discs being warped - and me being a student doesn't really have fantastic income!

Cheers again

Chris.

Some good ideas there, i'd go along with the grill and quite possibly painting the inside of the headlights?

And de-badging the rear, and removing the bump strips from the doors.

With regards to the bumpstrips, there's no holes or anything behind is there?

And with the lights, I 'smoked' the lights on my last car - if it's anything like they were at splitting, never again!!!

Black Magic Metallic = 1Z1Z

Regards,

Jason.

I can think of much better was to spend 75 quid than a PD160 unless your car's already got a remap or a tuning box. Just so you know how much they are...

Not on the doors, no.

However the paint can perferate - but this is normally covered by a 12 year warranty. A search should bring up more

Wet and dry the grill surround then spray black, LCR splitter, Stubby aerial, debadge the Fabia on the back, a briskoda sticker, and take the Mrs out for a 2 meals for a tenner. Jobs a gooden.

Latin x protection film on the headlights, or a painless footrest cover.

...and take the Mrs out for a 2 meals for a tenner...

Lucky girl ;)
