ok, many thanks for swift reply.

I have heard stories before where voltage on K-line increases to around 12V due to aftermarket stereos fitted and it can blow electrical circuit in VAGcom interface???

By the way,

Does anyone knows what transponder is fitted inside key on octavia, year 98?

T 5

or

T 6

There are issues with aftermarket head units affecting the K Line... apparently. Never seen it though, despite doing lots of cars with chavvy head units. Sure there's something on the subject on Ross Tech's site.

For the transponder, try here AKTP2 I think.

hi

Thanks for the transponder info. Will have deep look now.

Yes, this thing about chavy stereo head units has been mentioned on ross-tech site. I was just reading it. They suggest if you not sure, measure voltage in betwee two pins before plugging VAGcom.

Not true for genuine Ross-Tech interfaces. Our interfaces have built in protection for this. Aftermarket wires probably do not.
