heavy duty suspension with 17"?!?!?

Featured Replies

I just got my new Octavia, heavy duty suspension (3 cm higher than normal suspension), it came with 15" wheels. I thought of changing the wheels with 17" , the dealer stated that max size for the heavy duty suspension is 16"!!! I wonder why? if any body has an answer??

"Heavy duty suspension"? :dull:

"Heavy duty suspension"? emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Yes...this is an option here in Egypt, heavy duty suspension with max. 16" wheels and extra underneath steel inforcement.

Is it supposed to offer greater comfort, more clearance?

I don't understand why you'd want to fit bigger wheels (and thus, smaller tyres) and higher suspension? Seems counter-intuitive...

The Heavy suspension, yes it offers more clearance, but it is less comfort (tuffer)... and I think thats the reason they dont provide it with more than 16"..... anyway I just wanted a better look and extra stability....I think i have to change the suspension and springs to a sporty low clearance one to get the good looking with the 17" wheels!!??......I am confused emoticon-0124-worried.gif

Is heavy duty suspension an option you have selected, or is it standard fit for Egypt?

It is standard for Egypt through the authorized SKODA dealer....but other dealer import the standard suspension version from nearby countries, provided by 17" wheels (much better looking)

Ah right - I'm with you! I thought you'd ordered this suspension then wanted to get the wheels

Yes - if you get standard suspension then you can use the bigger wheels, and it'll look better!

I'd guess given this is fitted that you need the extra cushioning 16" will give you to avoid wheel damage due to poor quality (bumpy) roads?
