Yeti courtesy car - I'm impressed !

Featured Replies

Just dropped my Octavia Vrs TFSI off at the dealer for some repairs (hopefully !) & they very kindly gave me a 1.2Tsi Yeti in Postman Pat Red (ok I have named it that !) - well it was preferable to the Fabia with the pathetic 1.2 diesel engine that I had the last time !

First impressions are very good - ok it's a basic model (c/w wheeltrims !) but it looks bold, rides well & goes ! It was a bit tight getting the kids seats in the back, but the boot is a decent size for the size of car.

I've no plans to change the Octavia yet (I love it !) but would consider one of these if the price was right when I do change.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts...could be an interesting couple of days.

The seeds have been sown, harveys - it's only a matter of time now.... emoticon-0144-nod.gif

A comment that it "goes" from a VRS driver is praise indeed for the engine!

When I had a test drive I found it hard to believe how such a small engine could be so responsive in such a bulky car. For someone to drive one after a vRS and think the same is praise indeed.

Ok - it's no Vrs, but for a 1.2 it's strangely nippy - have noticed a couple of times, that you do need to be in the 'right' gear or it can struggle - not the case in the Vrs (so I've probably got a bit lazy - so my fault & not the Yeti's. It amazing how many people didn't know it existed - even the 'car buffs' here had to 'google' it to see what it looked like!

Further impressions are - tailgate is a bit of a pain if you are not used to it - it's got quite a wide sweep to open, so you have to remember to park away from walls etc. The gear change up indicator is novel, but of questionable use. I've not even worked out what spec this thing is - it seems to have the odd toy, but has wheel trims, so can't be that high??

Anyway, after two days with it, I am still thinking it's pretty useful - if a little tight for the kids seats in the back. If I had the choice I'd probably stick with the Vrs, but if I was changing (& it will happen sometime !) it would be on the shortlist alongwith probably a Octy Scout? Also it does still have a bit of a small car feel on the inside, some exposed metalwork, some cheap plastics etc etc.

If it's got wheel trims then it's the base 'E' spec as all the specs above that have alloys.

I was going to order a 110 deisel but I'm coming round to the idea of the 1.2 TSi now.

The 1.2TSi is much better value than the 110PS TDi engine.

Drive a TSi and you'll see for yourself, it's a real suprise how quick it is. I can't wait until the facelift Fabia is available with this new engine later this year!

I hope you're right, I've gone and ordered one now without a test drive!

I came close to ordering the 110 CR as the difference in price was only £14 a month on our car scheme but in the end I decided to go for the petrol.

I have not driven the 1.2, but the 110 has better fuel consumption and cheaper tax plus --- more torque. Just the job for me when i have a car full of divers with kit climbing up steep hills from coastal areas
