Xenon adjust guide?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a guide for adjusting the height of the xenons? I'd like to drop them down slightly, as on level ground, the light cutoff isnt horizonal. Worst on lh light.

I have VCDS, or can I do without this?

All the guide from the old forum seem to have vanished, but google still lists them.

This page from the Ross Tech Wiki should be what you are looking for: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/VW_Golf_%281K%29_Headlight_Aim_Control_%28Xenon%29

In a nutshell you need to set the xenons to a default adjustment position or the whole auto levelling system goes out of kilter.

Once they are set to adjustment mode there are the usual two hex type nuts on the light fittings, one up/down the other left/right. Tiny amounts of adjustment at any one time are recommended :o

The beam cutoff pattern is crap IMO, they kick up way too much towards the nearside of the road.

Edit:

Once you have finished close the controller, re-open it and check for any DTCs, no error codes will ensure the new position has been learned after adjustment. Also make sure the self levelling does its self test when you start the engine. My self levelling was a little temperamental when I altered my beam height and didn't play ball the first time round.

Thanks. Will have a play at the weekend.

Interested if anyone else has dropped theirs, and any reference points I should use to get them as good as poss. Dealer that supposidly checked them 3 times went bust, and nearest dealer about 30 miles away and not a good rep.
