Power Steering Light

Featured Replies

Power Steering Light stays on after ignition. But goes off after engine is turned on. Also handbrake light keeps flashing on acceleration and beeps 3 times. Ive checked braked fluid and level is ok. Ive had the car for nearly 4 years and was hoping to keep it longer. Going in for a diagnostic tomorrow. If the repair costs are too much, am gonna think of getting a vRS.

could just need a battery and a new handbrake switch

Just got a got a heavy duty battery about a couple of months ago when my old one died. And according to the manual the handbrake light is also the braking system light. I also read on another thread that "3 beeps" is bad. See what they say tomorrow. thanks.

Took my car to the dealer for a diagnostic. They first told me that I bought an "aftermarket" battery and it wasn't giving enough power to the power steering pump. I then told them that I bought a heavy duty battery with a 4 year guarantee. They then said it cant be the battery. They also told me that the power steering light did not come on the whole time(3days) it was with them. I told them that in the handbook it says that if power steering light only goes off after engine is full started that there was a fault in the system and it says to take it too a skoda dealership immediately. They just denied there was a problem. Now the power steering is heavier than normal but not completely gone!!

Also, initially they said that the handbrake light flashing meant that my abs control unit was faulty and it would a huge amount to fix. Then they concluded that brake fluid was leaking from rear caliper so they replaced it and renewed brake fluid. Now that warning light does not come anymore.

But what to do about the power steering? The dealer just deny there is a problem after charging me extra for investigating it. Now power steering is heavier than normal. and power steering light stays on until engine if fully switched on.
