Fault on Windows on Fabia ??

Featured Replies

I've had my fabia for 3 weeks now, but last night noticied that the auto-up and down feature on the driver's side window has disappeared and that i also can't operate the passenger side window from the driver's side.. has anyone had this and is it a trip back to the dealer ship ??

The manual advises that this may happen after a battery disconnect, but i've not had any work done on the battery ??

Cheers everyone !

The auto-up is fixed by opening all the windows and then closing them using the key in the door held in the lock position I think. Controller just needs to relearn where the closed position is, although it is a bit worrying that it's happened after only 3 weeks - mine stopped working after the battery was disconnected. If it's only on the driver's side, I'd take it to the dealer :)

try clicking the window button up 3 to 5 times with the windows closed works for me with this problem!

Try to hold down the switch when the windows are down totally.....hold for a couple of seconds. Do the same with the windows up. As long as the window is up totally or down totally,.....just hold to set the auto up or auto down. Just keep repeating the steps till you get the auto up or down functions working again. Sometimes u may hear a small click....This feature automatically shuts off after a battery change or ECU reset. It works everytime for me, so I dun see why it shouldn't for u.... :D:thumbup:

That's a point, since I had mine serviced last year this hasn't worked. Any ideas how to fix this?, all windows work normally on their own.

just an update, found that my passenger side one doesn't work from the passenger side as well as the driver's side, and the quick fixes people recommended haven't work so it's booked in at the dealership ! Thanks for you help though peeps !!

So, what happened in the end? Did they fix it

I had this happen after a service, fixed itself after 'rebooting' the car.

I just took the fuses out (for both front windows). They were OK, so I put them back.

That fixed it.

:)

IMHO - if I take a car to a the dealer, under warranty, and it doesn't behave like it should, they can bl*dy well fix it. Better still, they should be able to tell ya these things to save you the trip.

Then once you've exhausted the things you can easily do yourself, if it still doesn't work, I would expect to get invited to the garage pretty much ;)

I sure feel I shouldnt have to mess about with fuses to keep the car running as it should. I could do it myself, but that's what a warranty is supposed to be for ?

I've had a similar problem. Resolved by lowering the windows via the switches and winding them up using the key.

Does anyone there recognise this? On rare occasions the window operation buttons on the driver's door reverse roles. So far this has rectified itself on restart, but it's happened to me on two Fabias.

For some reason the passenger window door motor/control unit seems to lock up, much like a PC. Removing the fuse or disconnecting and reconnecting the motor seems to reboot it.

Oddly enough once done they dont seem to freeze again, tis a mystery but seena few do it.

To reset one touch witht he window all the way up hold the swtich up for a couple of seconds. One touch will not work from the passenger side switch though.

...yet another Windows system that needs rebooting.

I had the same problem 2 times they fixed it with "reboot" and dealer said if it happens again they will do something smart like putting it on scan tools or something.

my fabia vrs the window operations have also reversed roles but not gone back to what it was
